About us

MedMedia Group in 2013 celebrates its 22nd year in operation. The Group is wholly owned by journalists, John Gibbons and Geraldine Meagan. Its first venture was the launch in 1991 of a monthly journal of General Practice, Forum, in association with the Irish College of General Practitioners. Forum is now firmly established as the number one journal of general practice and GP education in Ireland.

MedMedia's next major initiative was the launch, in 1995, of the World of Irish Nursing, official journal of the Irish Nurses & Midwives Organisation, a full-colour A4 publication. Over the years, the circulation of World of Irish Nursing has grown in tandem with the growing membership of the INMO and today stands at over 40,000, making it Ireland's biggest circulation healthcare periodical.

We also publish Diabetes Ireland, journal of the Diabetes Federation of Ireland. In 2005, we took over publication of Asthma News on behalf of the Asthma Society of Ireland. We also launched Nursing in the Community to cater for the rapidly growing role of practice and community-based nursing.

In recent years, we have extended our publishing reach, with the launch of four specialist quarterly titles, Cancer Professional, Cardiology Professional, Psychiatry Professional and Diabetes Professional.

In 2010 MedMedia Group bought out the entire medical publications portfolio of M+C Group. These titles, the longest established of which is now over 40 years in print, bring our total stable of active titles to 13.

1995 also saw the launch of MedMedia Campaign , our creative agency. MedMedia Campaign has grown strongly over the years, and is now the pre-eminent creative agency for healthcare in Ireland. Its commitment to creative excellence has been acknowledged in its receipt of 18 national and international design and creative awards since 2000.

We have the biggest and most diverse portfolio of pharma products of any Irish agency and the largest and most experienced in-house team of graphic designers, creatives and account managers. In February 2013, MedMedia Campaign officially joined the Indigenus global network of leading independent healthcare creative agencies as its sole Irish member.

As well as adding more titles to its publishing portfolio, the next big departure for MedMedia Group took place in August, 2000, with the launch of its consumer health website, irishhealth.com. The site has been a huge hit with the Irish public. As of February 2013, just under 155,000 people were registered members of the site.

The site now attracts around 450,000 page views a month. Irishhhealth.comis one of Google and Yahoo's most highly rated health resources for Ireland. In 2007,Irishhhealth.com was rated as the world's 9th most popular 'health news and media' website, alongside sites such as the New England Journal of Medicine, BBC and CNN Health (Source: Alexa.com).

In September 2006, we launched 'RateMyHospital.ie', Ireland's first hospital ratings website. As of February 2012, almost 23,000 people have ranked their experience in hospital. In November 2007, 'Rate My Hospital' received a World Summit Award in a ceremony in Venice organised by the United Nations. This is the first time an Irish healthcare project had been so honoured.

In late 2007, MedMedia Group supported the launch of the pro bono website, Climatechange.ie to raise awareness of the growing climate crisis and what it means to all of us. The Group also undertook to review its own practices with a view to significantly reducing its corporate 'carbon footprint'.

MedMedia Group believes that the best model for sustainable success is to strive to be a business that treats employees, clients, suppliers and the public with respect and professionalism and uses its resources in a manner that is least harmful to the wider environment.
